Group members commit to reinvigorate mentorship and apprenticeship to change the business culture
The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), Phoenix Metro Chapter, relies heavily on its corporate partners for in-kind and financial support for Chapter programs.
Nearly 30 members of the NAWBO Phoenix leadership, its corporate partners and community leaders recently held a roundtable meeting to talk about the vital issues facing women business owners.
“We discussed many topics — from opioids to education,” explains Julie S. Cook, president of NAWBO. “But the topics all boiled down to the fact that modernization and technology have meshed our world together where all groups and cultures spend time together. Yet, they have driven apart that close family unit, community, or church group, where we all can learn from collaboration.
“At the conclusion of our meeting, we all agreed that we need to reinvigorate mentorship and apprenticeship in our society in order to change our business culture,” Cook says. “We agreed that it becomes our responsibility to lead by example, to be flexible and take the action necessary to initiate change.
“We left feeling energized and that we were about to engage in a movement that should not only encompass our local community but our nation,” Cook said. “We appreciate the Honorable Michele Reagan, who attended the roundtable meeting. She was an active NAWBO member before going on to serve Arizona and her country.”
