Small businesses have long been the backbone of the American economy, driving innovation, creating jobs and strengthening communities in every corner of our nation. Here in Arizona, small businesses are not only fueling economic growth in our cities and towns, but they are also helping lead the resurgence of American manufacturing.
Recently, I was asked what makes small businesses so important to our nation’s economic future. The answer is simple: Small businesses create opportunity. They account for the overwhelming majority of businesses in America, employ millions of hardworking Americans, and often bring the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation needed to solve complex challenges. From family-owned restaurants and service providers to advanced manufacturers and technology startups, small businesses remain essential to our economic success.
Manufacturing, in particular, continues to play a critical role in America’s competitiveness and national strength. Across Arizona, we are witnessing tremendous momentum in advanced manufacturing, aerospace and defense, semiconductors, construction materials, and precision technologies. These industries are helping to strengthen domestic supply chains, reduce reliance on overseas production and create high-quality jobs for skilled workers.
America’s manufacturers, many of them small businesses, are proving every day that products designed, built and assembled in the United States continue to represent quality, resilience and ingenuity. Small manufacturers not only create jobs but also support local suppliers, transportation networks and countless service businesses that make regional economies thrive.
The U.S. Small Business Administration remains committed to helping entrepreneurs start, grow, expand and recover. Whether through access to capital, counseling, federal contracting assistance, disaster support, or resource partners such as SCORE, Small Business Development Centers and Women’s Business Centers, the SBA works every day to empower America’s small business community.
If there is one message I would share with aspiring entrepreneurs and established business owners alike, it is this: There has never been a better time to invest in American ingenuity. Arizona’s economy is growing, innovation is accelerating, and opportunities continue to emerge across industries, particularly in manufacturing and skilled trades.
I am honored to participate in this year’s In Business Magazine Small Business Services Guide. Publications such as this help connect business leaders with the tools, resources and partnerships that support long-term success. Together, we can continue building stronger businesses, stronger communities and a stronger American economy.
