Metro Phoenix Bank (MPB) is celebrating its 14th anniversary serving the Phoenix business community and has, along the way, achieved several notable awards. According to S&P Global Market Intelligence, based on 2020 data, Metro Phoenix Bank ranked in the top 1% of community banks and thrifts under $3 billion in assets (ranking 30th among 4,287 banks nationwide). Based on Q1 2021 data, DepositAccounts.com ranked MPB 56th among 4,137 U.S. banks analyzed, and MPB continues to maintain its longstanding 5-star BauerFinancial rating, an award for top-performing banks. These accomplishments illustrate the hard work, determination and resiliency demonstrated by an exceptional staff, a committed management team and an engaged local board of directors. However, one shining star among the MPB team is Amber Welch, VP and senior business development officer/sales manager.
Welch has been with MPB for 11 years and has been instrumental in the bank’s overall growth in high-quality core deposits. Before utilizing her natural sales abilities and leadership skills, Welch first focused on operations functions. This allowed her to gain valuable insight and a more comprehensive understanding of banking — ultimately better preparing her for her role with customers. Welch was actively involved in the concept phase, strategic planning, implementation and the continued growth of the bank’s Homeowners Association (HOA) division. MPB merged into this space in 2009 and is now the third-largest provider of HOA banking services in the State of Arizona. Services include:
- A custom and innovative property management platform,
- Local lockbox processing,
- Merchant capture and
- Accounting Integration Solutions.
This business line also accounts for the largest depository segment at MPB. Welch’s success stems from her drive to excel, which is balanced with professionalism and a bit of spunk. She has spent a decade building relationships with industry professionals and trade organizations and enhancing the MPB customer experience. Welch also remains well-connected within the HOA community through volunteer efforts. The Community Association Institute (Arizona Chapter) recognized Welch for her contributions with the Rising Star and Hall of Fame Awards programs. Her role at MPB has also expanded into mentoring sales staff, ensuring they have the tools and know-how to exceed expectations — for customers and the bank. Welch graduated with honors from Arizona State University, obtaining a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business and communications.
Steve Haggard, president and CEO of Metro Phoenix Bank, had this to say: “Amber’s results-driven enthusiasm sets her apart. It’s no wonder customers and employees alike enjoy working with her. The bank is currently in deposit-growth mode with several new technological and sales initiatives underway. I have no doubt Amber will be a key contributor in attaining our goals.”
