Brandon Michaels

Brandon Michaels joined OneAZ Credit Union in May, bringing more than 20 years of leadership experience in banking and finance. He is passionate about driving technological innovations that provide members with outstanding banking experiences and improve their financial well-being. Michaels always aims to be a leader who challenges existing paradigms and invests in what matters most: company culture and the customer experience. 

At OneAZ, Michaels aims to build on the strong foundation of OneAZ’s 72 years of member-focused service to catapult the credit union into a leader in technology and member experience. His goal isn’t just to maintain OneAZ’s legacy but to propel the credit union into a pioneering position within the financial industry. By strategically focusing on technology and revolutionizing member experiences, Michaels’ approach will redefine industry benchmarks and set new standards for excellence.

Michaels is active in various organizations throughout the credit union and finance industry. He recently served on the advisory boards for Allied Solutions and ALM First Financial Advisors, was an executive committee member for the CUNA CEO Council, and is an active member of the Filene Research Institute’s Research and Incubation Advisory Council. Michaels has also been very involved in local chambers of commerce and economic development councils. 

Prior to joining OneAZ, Michaels led the corporate development division within Allied Solutions, responsible for leading the departments of acquisition integration, strategy integration, and sourcing and evaluating possible acquisitions. He previously served as president and CEO of the Wellby Financial in Houston, Texas, and Mazuma Credit Union in Kansas City, Missouri. During his tenure at both institutions, Michaels led their transformations into technologically advanced powerhouses with a laser-focused purpose of elevating the member experience. 

He is a 2011 High Honors graduate of Western CUNA Management School and is an honors graduate of the University of Oklahoma. He earned his executive MBA from Washington State University. Michaels is a third-generation banking CEO, following in the footsteps of both his mother and grandmother. He says he wouldn’t be where he is today without his wife, Danielle, and their twins, Charlotte and Kason.
