Credit Union Foundation Pledges $290,000 to Help Arizona Nonprofits throughout 2021

OneAZ Credit Union

In celebration of OneAZ Credit Union’s 70th anniversary, OneAZ Community Foundation has pledged to award over $250,000 to Arizona nonprofits in 2021. The Foundation is set to launch a new bi-monthly grant program and a 70th anniversary matching grant program later this year.

Over the last 5 years, OneAZ Community Foundation has donated more than $600,000 to nearly 250 nonprofit organizations across the state of Arizona to support our local communities.

“While our annual Community Impact Grant program has been tremendously successful, we hear from a number of organizations that have additional funding needs throughout the year,” says Sam Wheeler, Chairman of the OneAZ Community Foundation Board. “Our Together is Better grant program is the perfect way to help Arizona nonprofits any time of the year, whether it’s for a summer youth program or stocking up a food bank in the winter months.”

In 2021, OneAZ will offer three unique grant programs to increase the level of giving to the Arizona community throughout the entire year:

  • $120,000 Together is Better grants, this new program launches in March.
  • $100,000 Community Impact Grants, their annual giving program coming in June.
  • $70,000, a matching grants program developed to help celebrate the Credit Union’s 70th anniversary, more details coming in July.

To be eligible for a grant, nonprofits must be a registered 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization with a program or initiative that aligns with one of the Foundation’s five pillars of support:

  • Food Banks
  • Veterans’ Interests
  • Children’s Health
  • Financial Literacy
  • Local Youth Programs

OneAZ’s grants help local nonprofits like the Flagstaff Family Food Center, who used their funding from OneAZ to meet an increase in demand during the COVID-19 pandemic. “On average, our food assistance programs have increased by 80% since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis,” says Carrie Henderson, development director. “The grant that OneAZ provided is really important to help us get food into the hands of people who need it.”
