As children across Arizona begin returning to school in some fashion, CenturyLink is doing its part to ensure the transition is as easy as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In partnership with OCJ Kids — an organization that provides services and resources to children living in foster care — CenturyLink employees recently donated nearly 3,811 back-to-school items and $200 in gift cards to foster kids in Gilbert, Glendale, Laveen, Peoria, Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Surprise.
This year’s online donation drive benefited 10 group home agencies, with a total of 66 group homes receiving back-to-school items. A total of 672 backpacks were filled as a result of the donations from CenturyLink and other organizations and individuals. This is the fifth year CenturyLink has partnered with OCJ Kids for the back-to-school drive.
Donated items included: notebooks, pens and pencils, crayons, markers, glue, folders, index cards, highlighters, rulers, and more.
“It’s great to see how year after year, our employees come together and help the kids in our community that need it the most,” said Claudia Vargas of CenturyLink. “OCJ Kids does great work in our community and we are honored to partner with them.”
