Maureen Casey has been named Chief Impact Officer (CIO) for the First Place Global Leadership Institute, a newly created position supporting the organization’s mission to advance a new generation of housing and community development for adults with autism and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities (A/I/DD).
For three years, Casey served as director of The Daniel Jordan Fiddle Foundation Center for Public Policy and Colonel Harland Sanders Center for Applied Research at the Global Leadership Institute. In her new role as CIO, she will lead the organization’s research, public policy, funding and special community building projects positioned to advance a new generation of housing and community development for autistic adults and those with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (A/I/DD).
“Maureen has been a pivotal force in our efforts to align with interests of the private, public and charitable sectors to improve the lives of those we serve,” says First Place AZ Founder and President/CEO Denise D. Resnik. “In this expanded role, she will have more tools, greater leverage and a bigger platform from which to help us achieve our goals.”
Before joining First Place AZ, Casey’s resume was defined by a dedication to meeting the complex needs of the disability community as both a family advocate and professional. This includes serving as senior advisor in the Office of the Arizona Department of Economic Security Director, Assistant Director for the Division of Developmental Disabilities, Part C Coordinator for the Arizona Early Intervention Program (AzEIP) and a member of the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System’s (AHCCCS) Autism Spectrum Disorder Advisory Committee’s Evidence-Based Treatment Work Group. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Marist College and a master’s degree from Fordham University.
“First Place AZ has demonstrated that we can have an impact on the marketplace,” says Casey. “This is an opportunity to work with my First Place colleagues and our strategic partners in new ways that will take research-based outcomes focused on the populations we serve to the next level.”
