The construction industry is at a crossroads. Amidst rising costs, workforce shortages and increasing project complexity, the pressure to deliver faster, smarter and with greater accountability has never been higher. Yet many of the issues we face are not new; they’re rooted in decades of fragmented communication, reactive risk management and siloed project delivery.
I launched VALConsultants (VALC) to change that. (Visibility. Alliance. LifeCycle. Capital.)
After two decades in mission-critical construction, supporting hyperscalers, infrastructure developers and global builders, I saw a clear pattern: Most problems that surface late in a project could have been avoided with the right questions asked earlier. That’s why VALC was built to focus on construction monitoring, site selection and risk aversion, streamlining the process from end to end.
Construction monitoring isn’t just about compliance; it’s about visibility. We serve as a bridge between lenders, owners and delivery teams, ensuring progress is transparent, risks are identified early and teams are aligned. Through forensic-level oversight and risk-driven strategies, we increase delivery confidence before the first shovel hits the ground.
Our work in site selection emphasizes constructability, infrastructure feasibility and long-term viability, not just location and price. And we don’t stop at identifying problems — we bring in tools and processes that empower decision-makers with real data, not assumptions.
Here’s what we’re seeing as the top five risks in today’s industry:
- Outdated processes and manual workflows.
- Lack of cross-functional alignment and communication.
- Absence of a continuous improvement platform to upskill teams.
- Double-handling of data and lessons learned that never leave a desktop.
- Emotionally or politically driven decisions without data-backed visibility.
At VALC, we do things differently. We embed systems that catch risks before they escalate. We develop technology-backed frameworks for visibility, resource management and real-time data use. And we don’t just talk about lessons learned — we operationalize them.
Because if you’re still firefighting at the end of a project, it’s not a people problem — it’s a process problem.
The construction industry doesn’t need more band-aids. It needs transformation. And we’re here to lead it.
