Following a milestone 70th anniversary year, Uptown Plaza, the historic mid-century modern landmark at the intersection of Central Avenue and Camelback Road, has expanded its retail and dining roster with the addition of two exciting new tenants that are now open: Let’s Toast and Road Runner Sports.
The new openings signal continued momentum for the North Central Phoenix corridor, which has seen ownership’s significant reinvestment and high-profile debuts flourish, including The Henry and nationally acclaimed Salt & Straw, both of which opened last year. For 2026, the next wave of vibrancy has hit the plaza, with the first-to-market brick-and-mortar Korean BBQ sandwich experience and the tech-centric athletic retailer joining the tenant mix.
Founded by husband-and-wife duo Sumin Kim and Sean Atkinson, Let’s Toast has built a devoted following at the Uptown Farmers Market and local festivals. Known for its authentic Korean BBQ breakfast sandwiches and Seoul-inspired street food, the concept has now transitioned to its first permanent home. The move represents a full-circle moment for the brand, launching in the same neighborhood where it first gained popularity. Let’s Toast is now open to the public.
Joining the Plaza’s retail lineup is Road Runner Sports, one of the nation’s leading running and fitness retailers. Established in 1983, the brand brings a sophisticated, tech-driven shopping experience to Central Phoenix, featuring its proprietary Fit Finder technology to provide personalized gear solutions for runners and walkers. Road Runner Sports is now open to the public.
“Let’s Toast and Road Runner Sports are a strong reflection of what makes Uptown Plaza so dynamic, pairing homegrown, highly creative concepts with best-in-class neighborhood services,” said ownership’s Andrew Cohn, principal at Levine Investments. “We’re excited to build on this growth and look forward to introducing even more dynamic experiences to the community, as opportunities become available.”
Since its inception, Uptown Plaza has served as the architectural and commercial heart of North Central Phoenix, connecting the residents of the Windsor Square, Medlock Place, Pierson Place and St. Francis neighborhoods to a community-oriented shopping and gathering center. While the city has evolved, the Plaza has successfully adapted by preserving its iconic mid-century design while housing a mix of premier local and national brands, including AJ’s Fine Foods, Shake Shack, Chula Seafood, Flower Child, West Elm, Manor Shoes and Urban Eyecare, just to name a few.
