Walmart recently announced they are raising pay for its private fleet of truck drivers, including the nearly 370 truck drivers in Arizona. Additionally, they are also launching a new fleet development program to train the next generation of drivers. Together, these investments will ensure Walmart remains one of the best companies in the world to drive for and will help them continue to hire aggressively to meet all-time high demand from customers.

“I can’t imagine driving anywhere else,” said Allyson Hay Walmart private fleet driver. “Walmart drivers take a lot of pride in delivering for millions of people every day. You know you’re making a big impact in peoples’ lives and helping them live better, and that’s a special feeling.”

With the raises in place, Walmart drivers can now make up to $110,000 in their first year with the company, with the potential to make even more down the road, based on factors like tenure and location. The new private fleet development program enables supply chain associates in select locations to earn their CDL for free and become professional Walmart drivers.

The investments in pay and training build on multiple recent driver bonuses and improved schedules, which enable drivers to spend more time at home.

Walmart has the one of the largest and safest private fleets in the trucking industry and their truck driver jobs are considered among the best in the industry, where many drivers choose to remain throughout their careers. With customers counting on Walmart like never before, they are coming off a record year for hiring truck drivers and plan to keep hiring aggressively to meet customer demand.
