GateWay Community College is pleased to announce a new education and career partnership with one of Arizona’s largest automotive repair providers, Greulich’s Automotive Repair. This exciting new apprenticeship program will provide students with paid educational advancement through GateWay’s automotive program while also offering immediate employment opportunities to graduates of the program.
With 18 locations in Arizona, Greulich’s Automotive Repair has been a family-owned and operated automotive empire for over 44 years. The partnership with GateWay, a workforce development leader for over 50 years, seemed like a perfect fit.
“We are thrilled about this new partnership with Greulich’s,” said Jason Cooper, automotive program director at GateWay. “Our students are some of the most well-qualified technicians upon completing our program. This apprenticeship program offers them an immediate career path with an industry leader following graduation.”
In addition to free education and a new career, each apprentice will receive a toolset and have their ASE certification exam fee covered through the program. With an estimated 642,000 automotive technicians needed over the next three years, the opportunity for both organizations is endless.
“Our company is committed to providing exceptional customer service and quality repairs,” said Chris Greulich, owner of Greulich’s Automotive Repair. “The opportunity we have with GateWay will help us continue to hire the best and brightest automotive technicians that fit our company’s vision.”
With the first students expected to enroll in the upcoming fall semester, Greulich’s is not wasting any time getting started. Partnering with the college’s career services, they already offer immediate job placement to recent GateWay automotive graduates.
“We truly are a workforce development leader,” said Dr. Steven Meneses, dean of business, technology, and trades at GateWay. “This partnership highlights our institution’s value to our students, our business partners, and the Arizona economy.”
With automotive technicians in high demand, the industry offers aggressive median starting pay opportunities for graduates. The partnership further cements GateWay’s status as a top-tier workforce educator. The college was recently ranked as one of the top 50 community colleges in the nation for graduate earnings for the second year in a row.
