More than 150 Southwest Gas employees partnered with The Foster Alliance to bring comfort and joy to children in foster care during a large-scale holiday volunteer event at the company’s Phoenix office. As part of Southwest Gas’ BLUE- Building Lives Up Everywhere employee volunteer program, Southwest Gas employees along with their families assembled 100 new bicycles and made 100 cozy blankets for children in foster care.
The bicycles and new helmets will be distributed through the Department of Child Safety to ensure children receive holiday gifts on time, while the blankets will be provided through The Foster Alliance’s resource center to support families year-round.
“Our partnership with The Foster Alliance is a powerful reminder of what can happen when our community comes together with a shared purpose,” said Brad Harris, Regional Vice President at Southwest Gas. “Our dedicated employees showed up today with incredible heart and generosity to support children in need this holiday season. Their efforts directly reflect Southwest Gas’ mission to fuel bright futures and strengthen the communities we serve.”
The Southwest Gas Foundation also contributed $20,000 toward the event, helping to advance The Foster Alliance’s mission of providing essential resources to children in foster care. The collaboration further highlighted the long-standing partnership between Southwest Gas and The Foster Alliance, which began in 2013.
“This event reflects what the holiday season is all about – bringing comfort, joy, and a sense of stability to children who need it most,” said Maureen Noe, President and CEO of The Foster Alliance. “With Southwest Gas and more than 100 volunteers by our side, we’re able to provide bikes that spark joy today and blankets that will support foster families well beyond the holidays. Their partnership strengthens our ability to meet children’s needs with dignity and care.”
