Downtown Tempe’s Open-Air Market Returns for its 5th Season

This fall, the 6^th Street Market in Downtown Tempe returns for its 5^th season! On Sunday, October 4, 2020 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., an array of local artists, makers and food creatives will descend to 6^th Street Park to sell and showcase their work to the community.

“An outdoor market is very important to the community,” Julie Kent, organizer of the 6^th Street Market, said. “Now, more than ever, do we need safe and smaller community activities that help local artists and businesses to survive.”

The market’s 5^th season will take place every Sunday from Oct. 4-Nov. 29 and Feb. 14-April 25, 2021 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

During this fall season, market goers will notice some familiar vendors but also some new, unique vendors as well.

For example, The Wild Shrimp Co. will be in attendance with their fresh, scrumptious seafood! Furthermore, Annie’s Flower Truck will be at the market for all of those gardening enthusiasts!

“We are more excited than ever to launch the 5^th season of this community centric event,” Kate Borders, Executive Director of the Downtown Tempe Authority, said. “We want to ensure these locally based initiatives stay intact as we believe that our community needs these experiences and an opportunity to support their local artisans and food creatives.”

In light of the current climate, this fall season will not have live music as the other seasons showcased, but as we move into a safer environment, the 6^th Street Market hopes to bring back live, local artists to the market in the spring season.

Order online, pick up at the Market

This year, we are launching a new 6^th Street Market pre-order page (coming soon) on our website! Each week, we will add vendors that attend the 6^th Street Market and have an online, pre-ordering option.

As an added bonus, all online ordering information will remain on the page for all participating vendors this season.

COVID-19 Notice

This is an open-air activation as it’s housed at 6^th Street Park in Downtown Tempe. In addition, the vendor tents will be spread out, allowing for increased social distancing.

All tables and chairs have been removed to ensure a steady flow of attendees at the market. Furthermore, all food vendors will have pre-packaged or to-go ready items for attendees.

We are following all health authority and government agency guidelines for all of our downtown Tempe events. This includes enforcing the mask mandate by the City of Tempe and Maricopa County, providing hand sanitizer at the information booth, encouraging social distancing, etc. Please see our website for more detailed guidelines and precautions as they relate to the 6^th Street Market.
