The holidays may look a little different this year, but the season of giving is needed now more than ever. Which is why Mr Mesquite Taqueria is using all seven of its locations, including their newest in Gilbert when it opens on December 12th as safe donation drop off sites for the Academic Opportunity of Arizona starting December 1st.
The Academic Opportunity of Arizona (AOA) provides educational funding and resources to children living with disabilities and low income hardships across the valley. Their partner schools have compiled a list of suggested items, focused on positively enriching the lives of students living with disabilities.
“Although all toy drives have an incredible driving cause, students with disabilities are often overlooked on the list of items that are usually donated” said Chad Bays, CEO of AOA. “While many children with disabilities can use some mainstream toys, those toys are not often adaptable to their needs, motor skill limitations or sensory impairments. Which is why, we are so excited to partner with Mr Mesquite and create a list just for them.”
Anyone who brings in a toy, clothing item, or learning tool to any Mr Mesquite location will also get a free taco to redeem the day of drop off.
“A lot of families are struggling this year, and if we can do something to help, we’re going to do it. It’s as simple as that.” said Ahmad Alatrash, co-owner of Mr Mesquite Taqueria.
