Cafe Emporos offers easy-to-use hand-drip coffee filters as coffeegrams — envelopes containing pour-over coffee that can be personalized with a message, logo, company name or photo. Based in Goodyear, the online coffee shop ships within the United States.
Started in 2015 with coffee only — which it sources from Uganda, Ethiopia and Colombia — Café Emporos has since added tea and hot chocolate. Cafe Emporos sells both individual products as well as bundles in increments of 50.
Owner Ruben Trujillo, who had moved to South Korea to teach English after graduating from college, also worked as a barista and received his barista license. After returning to the United States, Trujillo opened Cafe Emporos as a side project and focused on his easy-to-use hand drip coffee filters with its coffeegrams — custom packaging of the hand-drip coffees with a message and a photo. Customers now include Netflix, The ChanZuckerberg Initiative and Genesis Motors.
Café Emporos was selected last year as one of 30 small U.S. businesses to receive a Creciendo Con TikTok grant from a fund created through a partnership of TikTok and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation to celebrate the perseverance, hard work and commitment of Latinx business owners.
