Thousands turned out over the weekend for the kick-off of the Arizona SciTech Festival, the state’s annual celebration of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The Connect2STEM event at the Phoenix Biomedical Campus drew hundreds who participated in more than 150 hands-on STEM activities.
The Connect2STEM event, presented by the University of Arizona, in partnership with Cox Communications, marks the beginning of the two-month festival, which features a record 3,500+ events in communities.
“A talent pipeline with strong STEM skills is increasingly critical in the technology-driven 21st century economy,” said Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority. “That’s why we’re very pleased to once again to present the Arizona SciTech Festival, which plays a leading role in exciting students about STEM and inspiring them to pursue an education in these fields.”
The Arizona SciTech Festival engages future generations of scientists and technology leaders by offering them opportunities to explore STEM through the interactive events. The workshops, exhibitions, displays, lectures and tours appeal to curious minds of all ages, fueling excitement for the STEM culture in the Grand Canyon State.
“As a technology company, Cox Communications deeply supports the advancement of STEM education across our state,” said Susan Anable, Southwest Vice President of Public Affairs, Cox Communications. “We are thrilled to again sponsor this amazing festival, which sparks imaginations and spurs excitement about science and technology for people of all ages.”
