Wheelchair Solutions Takes Glold in Global Innovation Competition

Wheelchair Solutions and its line of Wheelie products won the Gold Award in the 6th Annual International 2014 Golden Bridge Business and Innovation Awards in the Innovative New Product/Service Category. Winners were announced at a dinner in San Francisco on Sept. 8. More than 600 submissions were received.

“We are thrilled to have taken home the gold in the prestigious International Golden Bridge Awards,” enthused Kathy Mondotte, founder, inventor and president of Wheelchair Solutions. “This honor is a testament to the company’s commitment to improve the comfort and safety of those who use wheelchairs, rollators, and walkers,” she added.

Several years ago, Mondotte was in a wheelchair for more than a year following a severe spinal cord injury caused by a 1,200–pound boulder falling on her during her career as a landscape architect. That experience led to the development of her current business and she is very keen in choosing the right wheelchair. It’s one she’s truly passionate about because she knows firsthand how much difference her products can make.

Among the Wheelchair Solutions Products are Wheelie Styles, colorful, reversible seat cushions with cover and arm rest cover with integrated personal item/security pouch, matching backpack and accessories; Wheelie Gators, custom, washable rain gear specially designed for the wheelchair-enabled; Wheelie Walker Bags, which hold valuables securely and attach easily to walkers; and Wheelie Rollers, reversible seat and handlebar covers for rollators, which are made of 100–percent pre-shrunk cotton, machine washable and available in a variety of patterns, designs, and colors.
