In the midst of a pandemic everyone pivots—including the artists. The arts community was taken by storm when COVID-19 hit the world but tonight, the Roosevelt Row District in Downtown Phoenix shines a little brighter with a virtual experience that celebrates the heart and soul of a cherished event—First Fridays. The public is invited to tune in to multiple events that will be live-streamed via social media and various website platforms for an unforgettable gallery of online experiences.
Kick off the evening at 6 p.m. with a live stream show at https://www.facebook.com/events/342869043340791/ from The Churchill featuring live music by Sassy & The Sneak Attack followed by Tindal Muzic and DJ Panic for a virtual First Friday experience, sponsored by Design Pickle. Meet the faces of female owned businesses in the area, such as GenuWine Arizona Wine Bar, Alterations and Creations, Fair Trade Cafe, Carly’s Bistro and more, to learn why it’s so important to support our local community.
At the heart of it all will be the debut virtual event at the iconic monOrchid from Flamenco Por La Vida. Beginning at 7 p.m. until 8, dancers will honor the beauty and storytelling of the flamenco dance. People can tune in to see the beautiful movement and hear the pulsating music by visiting @themonorchid on Instagram.
The arts community, like many other industries, has been hit hard by the impact of the coronavirus. That’s why people are welcome to also donate to an online Venmo fund set up by the Roosevelt Row CDC. Search @RooseveltRowCDC on Venmo to continue supporting local artists and events in the area. The Roosevelt Row CDC has set up a virtual tour of which pages are streaming performances at https://www.rooseveltrow.org/first-friday-virtual-tour/. Please note all events are virtual and while organizers encourage music lovers they also ask people to please stay home during this time to stay safe and healthy. Thank you. Your coverage is welcomed and appreciated!
