Vantage West Credit Union, Southern Arizona’s largest credit union serving nearly 135,000 members, is celebrating 60 years of service this year. What began in 1955 as a federal credit union focused on serving military members at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base has grown over the years to a full-service, $1.3 billion financial institution that continues to serve its military base but also serves members across Arizona via branches in four counties, including Maricopa, Pima, Pinal and Cochise, and worldwide, thanks to online and mobile banking, an option that was unfathomable 60 years ago.
While Vantage West shares its golden anniversary year with McDonald’s and the first cans of Coca-Cola, it also shares this milestone with its members from Phoenix to Tucson who, over the years, have turned to Vantage West for mortgages and personal loans, paid for college and weddings with their Vantage West savings, and worked with Vantage West business experts to help their businesses expand and flourish. Vantage West is a statewide leader in auto dealership lending, and Phoenix-area auto dealers represent up to 80% of the credit union’s auto loan business.
Over the past six decades, Vantage West Credit Union has provided financial literacy lessons for young kids just getting started, and adults, alike, who have learned and continue to learn the value of saving and spending wisely. Vantage West has been there, and will continue to be there, for members through every stage of their lives.
