The participants weren’t there in person, but they truly were in spirit. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, engineering consulting firm Terracon, being aware of safety to others, postponed its annual golf tournament that benefits Kids at Hope.
Terracon realized the lost donations from canceled events would negatively impact Kids at Hope. It still found a way to donate: Terracon gave companies that signed up for the tournament the option of donating their registration/sponsorship fees to Kids at Hope.
Although the event scheduled for March 27 at the Legacy Golf Resort was not held, Terracon matched the first $2,500 in donations and presented Kids at Hope with a check for $5,000.
“Terracon is happy to be partnered with Kids at Hope for our annual Golf for Good event,” said Terracon Office Manager Brent M. Borchers. “We were very disappointed that we had to postpone the event. Safety is a core value at Terracon.
“However, through the generosity of our business partners, we are thankful and happy that we could still support Kids at Hope. We also look forward to our continued relationship with Kids at Hope with our Golf for Good event this fall,” Borchers said.
Three companies extended their generosity in this time of need, Borchers added: Esco Corporation, Katerra and Transco Energy. Each donated their fees to Kids at Hope.
“With the severe demands in Arizona due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Katerra is proud to be joining others in donating our golf sponsorship fees to Kids at Hope,” said Tracy Thiesse, Subcontractor Relationship Manager with Katerra. “We recognize that COVID-19 is impacting us all in unprecedented ways, and we’re happy to be a part of helping nonprofit organizations such as Kids at Hope sustain their operations during these uncertain times.”
