Scottsdale-based Magellan Health, Inc. has received two awards for its innovation around online and mobile access to integrated behavioral health treatment and care. The awards are the 2015 TripleTree iAward for Connected Health for Clinical Effectiveness and the 2015 Welltok, Inc. Health Optimization Award for Strategic Vision.
Magellan received the iAward for Clinical Effectiveness from TripleTree for its suite of programs – including those for depression, anxiety and insomnia – on its Computerized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CCBT) platform. Magellan’s Web-based care solution stood out from the nearly 60 other companies considered for demonstrating innovation via digital health solutions.
The results achieved through Magellan’s CCBT program match, and in some instances exceed, those reached by conventionally delivered cognitive behavioral therapy. These include a 52-percent reduction in symptoms for individuals who complete depression-focused programs, a 63-percent reduction in symptoms for individuals dealing with anxiety, and an improvement for 80 percent of individuals dealing with insomnia.
“Consumer and clinical needs and expectations are changing, and we have worked tirelessly to meet them,” said Seth Feuerstein, M.D., J.D., chief innovation officer at Magellan Health. “This award is further proof that Magellan’s culture of innovation is a real driver of change in the healthcare arena.”
Magellan also received the Health Optimization Award for Strategic Vision from Welltok for its work providing enhanced online and mobile access to consumers through the CaféWell platform.
Welltok offers the CaféWell Health Optimization Platform, which serves as a holistic hub that organizes the growing spectrum of health and condition management programs, apps, communities and tracking devices to enable consumers to become actively involved in their health on a daily basis. CaféWell drives engagement with personalized, adaptive plans based on an individual’s health status, benefits, and goals, as well as the intelligent alignment of incentives with targeted health behaviors.
“Working with CaféWell on our population management solutions, we’ve been able to provide clients with the tools necessary to better support their members through the personal and professional challenges they may face,” said Feuerstein. “Magellan understands that consumers are seeking new and innovative ways to access the services available to them, so we’ve invested in ways to bring behavioral health treatment and care online and accessible through mobile devices.”
