Easter Holiday Weekend Restrictions for City of Phoenix Parks

City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department

The City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department reminds the community about temporary restrictions that will be in place at city parks during the upcoming Easter holiday weekend. The following policy will be in effect Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12:

  • Parks will be open for residents to enjoy walking paths and green space only
  • Restrooms will be closed
  • Picnicking and grilling will be prohibited
  • Parking lots will be closed (those with an accessibility parking placard will be allowed access)

Phoenix Park Rangers and other city staff will work as ambassadors at parks citywide during the holiday weekend to educate residents about these restrictions. Residents can expect to find parking lot gates locked and ungated lots barricaded. Those restrictions will go into effect after parks close on Friday, April 10.

Traditionally, the Saturday and Sunday of the Easter holiday weekend are the busiest two days of activity in city of Phoenix parks, as families and large groups gather to celebrate. These temporary restrictions will be in place to manage the spread of the coronavirus by promoting responsible social and physical distancing.

Additional information about these temporary restrictions and guidelines for social and physical distancing when participating in outdoor recreation can be found at Phoenix.gov/Park.
