Valley of the Sun United Way

Valley of the Sun United Way, serving Maricopa County for 95 years, and Dutch Bros Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dutch Bros Coffee, are providing hope to those impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. Through the foundation’s $35,000 gift to the United for the Valley COVID-19 fund, local nonprofit partners will receive support for those they serve which is intended for immediate and immerging needs such as maintaining housing, securing food, access to reliable childcare, home sanitation supplies, learning tools and more.

“Dutch Bros and the Dutch Bros Foundation are all about putting people first, and it is evident in the very generous gift we have received in support of COVID-19 immediate needs in our community” said Carla Vargas Jasa, Valley of the Sun United Way President and CEO. “We are grateful for their impactful support, and for their partnership in ensuring our community’s most vulnerable individuals and families have the support they need during this time.”

The gift is part of a larger $1 million commitment made by the Dutch Bros Foundation to assist organizations in its seven operating states. Partnering with United Way allowed the donation to make an immediate impact in areas hit hardest by COVID-19.

“We know how fortunate we are to be in a position to support our friends, families and communities,” said Katie Hutchinson, vice president of philanthropy at Dutch Bros Coffee. “We’re all working to find ways to make a difference during these difficult times. We’re grateful for the opportunity to work with United Way to do what is at the heart of our company- making a massive difference and helping people.”

United Way is celebrating 95 years of meeting the most pressing needs of Maricopa County. Valley of the Sun United Way unifies diverse partners, donors, business supporters, nonprofits, government and faith-based communities to build a stronger Valley for us all. United Way and its 90,000 donors, 400 business supporters and 5,000 volunteers fight to break the cycle of poverty by ensuring children and youth succeed, ending hunger and homelessness, and increasing the financial stability of families.

The Dutch Bros Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dutch Bros Coffee, supports programs and projects in three core areas- youth, health and origins (sources of its coffee beans). Each year since its inception in 2016 as the Love Abounds Foundation, it has given several million dollars to local, state and national causes.
