Capital Insurance Group® (CIG), the leading regional property and casualty insurer serving the Western U.S., has announced the promotion and appointment of Mark Houghton as the Regional Field Executive – Southwest Region. The former regional manager of CIG’s Anaheim, Calif., territory will oversee field operations and business relations for CIG’s newest regional territory comprised of Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico. Houghton and his family will be relocating to the Phoenix area later this year.
“Mark has distinguished himself as an effective leader with sound business development skills, and we are confident his expertise will benefit our clients and agents within the new regional territory,” said Arne Chatterton, president and CEO for CIG. “With CIG’s expanding presence in the region, this appointment also will help support our strong agency partners.”
Houghton, with more than 20 years of experience in underwriting and marketing, began his career in Southern California as a commercial underwriter and quickly moved through the ranks to the position of regional underwriting manager. Throughout his career, Houghton has held various management assignments in underwriting, information management and business development. He is a graduate of Cortland State University with a degree in economics and management science, and holds the CPCU and ARM designations.
