Molina Healthcare of Arizona is launching its Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies program, designed to support the nutritional needs of expectant mothers. This first-of-its-kind initiative provides eligible Molina members in Arizona with Instacart subscriptions and monthly food stipends to ensure access to fresh, healthy foods throughout pregnancy.

The new program addresses critical nutritional needs during pregnancy by offering up to seven months of Instacart service and delivery coupled with $100 in Fresh Funds each month, for a potential total benefit of $700 per member. This initiative reinforces Molina’s commitment to maternal health by removing barriers to nutritious foods, particularly for members who may live in areas with limited grocery options or who may not have reliable transportation. In a 2022 study published by JAMA Network Open, individuals with food insecurity in pregnancy had a higher risk of gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, preterm birth, and more compared to those without food insecurity.

“Proper nutrition during pregnancy is fundamental to both maternal and infant health outcomes,” said Minnie Andrade, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Arizona. “This program reflects our dedication to supporting expectant mothers during this crucial time by providing resources that directly address food security and access to fresh, nutritious options.”

The Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies program was designed to encourage early prenatal care. Pregnant members who are in their first trimester may participate by completing their first trimester visit with an OB/GYN or primary care physician and completing an attestation. The process to sign up for the program is streamlined through Molina’s member portal at MyMolina.com or via the mobile app. Instacart rewards are sent to the member’s email at the beginning of each month.

This program is part of Molina’s broader initiative to improve maternal and child health outcomes through preventive care and targeted support. For more information on the program, members can visit MyMolina.com or contact Molina Healthcare of Arizona directly.
