Horizon Recovery, Arizona’s premier provider of adolescent mental health and addiction recovery services, announced the opening of its new $3 million Deer Valley Residential Treatment Center in Peoria, creating 15 new healthcare jobs and adding vital capacity to address the state’s growing youth mental health crisis.

The 10-bed co-ed facility at 22201 North 91st Ave. in Peoria represents Horizon Recovery’s sixth location in Arizona and features state-of-the-art therapeutic amenities designed specifically for adolescents and teens struggling with mental health challenges and substance use disorders.

“With Arizona facing the nation’s worst student-to-counselor ratio and teen mental health needs soaring, this expansion couldn’t come at a more critical time,” said Brian Carlisle, FNP-C, co-founder of Horizon Recovery. “Our Deer Valley facility provides a crucial safe haven where teens can receive intensive, personalized care away from negative influences while developing the skills needed for lasting recovery.”

The new center offers a comprehensive therapeutic environment with 24/7 licensed staff support and a unique blend of evidence-based clinical therapies, such as 19 channel neuroimaging and neuro-feedback brain training, alongside innovative holistic approaches including equine therapy, music therapy, yoga, and specialized trauma services rarely available for adolescents in traditional treatment settings.

Horizon Recovery’s expansion adds to its complete continuum of care with additional locations within the Phoenix metro area including Arrowhead, Buckeye, and Scottsdale. The organization is now operating at three residential facilities (girls-only, boys-only, and co-ed), with two outpatient clinics, and a supportive housing program in partnership with the non-profit Teen Pathways Alliance for those transitioning from residential care.

“What distinguishes our approach is our unwavering focus on the whole adolescent – not just their symptoms,” said Patrick Buhl, executive director and co-founder of Horizon Recovery. “Our clinicians specialize specifically in adolescent care, delivering personalized treatment plans that integrate family therapy, cutting-edge neuroplasticity work, and practical life skills development alongside traditional therapeutic modalities.”
