A convenient and authentic Japanese meal is just a button push away. Taste of Japan is proud to introduce a revolutionary dining experience – a state-of-the-art Japanese cuisine vending machine, available exclusively at Fujiya Market in Tempe through March 31. Fujiya Market is located at 1335 W University Dr. #5, Tempe, AZ 85281.
This innovative vending machine, called ‘Frozen Yatai’, debuted at the prestigious Japanese Consulate VIP Reception on Feb. 23 in Arizona, marking a significant milestone in culinary technology. Developed by SandenVendo America, a leading Japanese vending machine manufacturer, this cashless system accepts transactions through card and Apple Pay, providing seamless convenience to customers.
True to the essence of Japanese culinary tradition, all dishes available in the vending machine are meticulously crafted using premium Japanese rice sourced directly from Japan. Unlike ordinary rice, this specially selected variety maintains its quality even after microwaving, ensuring a delightful dining experience without the risk of becoming mushy.
With five tantalizing options to choose from, each bento-style dish promises to tantalize taste buds and satisfy cravings, including Chicken Teriyaki, Tempura Bowl, Eel Rice Bowl, Spicy Tuna Salad Roll and Plant-Based Meat Bowl.
Frozen Yatai is an example of the growing partnership between TASTE OF JAPAN and California Rice Center (CRC). Together, the two organizations are introducing high-quality Japanese products to the Arizona market, such as the Japanese rice used in each dish offered by the vending machine.
“We are thrilled to introduce this innovative vending machine, offering a taste of authentic Japanese cuisine to our patrons,” said Rocky Yoneyama, a spokesperson for TASTE OF JAPAN. “Not only does it provide unparalleled convenience and quality, but it also serves as a testament to the burgeoning trade relationship between Arizona and Japan.”
Each meal, priced between $11 and $13, offers a complete dining experience, freshly frozen and ready to be heated in the microwave in three to four minutes. Whether you’re craving the savory richness of teriyaki chicken or the delicate flavors of an eel rice bowl, this vending machine ensures a satisfying meal on-the-go. All meals are provided by California Rice Center.
“This vending machine represents our commitment to promoting Japanese rice consumption and fostering cultural exchange through gastronomy,” added Yoneyama.
