Cheba Hut, the counter-culture-themed sandwich shop known for its ‘toasted subs’ and laid-back atmosphere, is opening a new location at 8776 E Shea Blvd, Suite 100, in Scottsdale on March 10. Located at the corner of 101 and Shea, the new shop is the brand’s 11th location in Arizona – and its 77th systemwide.
This will be the second Cheba Hut location for franchisees Justin and Michelle Lemos, who celebrated the opening of their first shop in North Scottsdale on Feb. 3. The couple has extensive franchising experience with multiple locations of other successful restaurant brands as well.
“Michelle and I are absolutely thrilled and honored to continue introducing Cheba Hut to the people of Scottsdale,” said Justin Lemos. “We took special care to make sure the vibe in both of our restaurants reflects the city’s amazing culture. So when you couple that with our high-quality food and laid-back atmosphere, we think it’s another perfect addition to this wonderful community.”
For Justin, growing up in Mesa, Arizona, meant growing up on Cheba Hut—it was a staple with his brothers and friends. When a co-worker introduced Michelle to the magic, she was hooked after the first bite. They chose the brand not only because of the awesome food and cool atmosphere but Cheba Hut’s core values deeply align with their own approach to how a restaurant should be run.
The more than 3,000-square-foot end-cap unit at 101 and Shea features a large patio, ample parking and scenic mountain views. Inside, a custom mural by artist Finley pays tribute to Scottsdale’s reputation as a hub for classic car enthusiasts. A big fan of both Cheba Hut and the city of Scottsdale, Finley knew exactly what the mural would need to resonate with area homies.
“Whether you’re into cars or just appreciate creative expression, I think you’ll enjoy looking at the mural and absorbing all the little details,” said Finley. “Among other features, you’ll get to time-travel to January 20, 1998, when the first Cheba Hut opened. And there are plenty of other nuggets – or nuggs – to discover, the more you look.”
To celebrate the opening, Cheba Hut is throwing a massive party on March 8 featuring: A giant Flip the Bird inflatable displayed on the rooftop on opening day. A VIP party featuring key players from the Cheba Hut brand with complimentary food and drinks
The restaurant will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
