Pioneering Water Co. Expands Into 21 States, Including Arizona

Lone River Ranch Water

Lone River Beverage Company, the ‘Ranch Water’ early mover has had quite the year. This month, Lone River Ranch Water celebrates one year since hitting retailer shelves with the announcement of its entry into 21 new markets.

Lone River Ranch Water is now available across Arizona, Alabama, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, and the Florida panhandle, adding to its current offering throughout Texas and Tennessee. The brand will roll into another 12 states across the South and Midwest by early June. With this expansion news, Lone River doubles down on its commitment to bring the no-frills taste of West Texas far and wide. Lone River is also sold via Drizly, where it was recently ranked the #1 craft hard seltzer sold on the platform1.

Lone River is the first and only Ranch Water hard seltzer with roots in Far West Texas where the ‘Ranch Water’ cocktail originated. Founder and native West Texan, Katie Beal Brown, began developing the brand after growing homesick for her time on her family’s working ranch in Far West Texas. Lone River found early success and established a cult following for its authenticity and in differentiating itself from existing players in the hard seltzer category.

“The past year has been a wild ride. We launched Lone River in a time of great uncertainty that required a lot of grit and determination for our small team to succeed,” comments Founder and CEO Katie Beal Brown. “I created Lone River as a way to pay homage to my upbringing and our family’s ranching roots in Far West Texas. I poured my heart into building a brand that celebrates the culture around Ranch Water, and I’m humbled to see how much that brand now resonates with consumers far beyond Texas. This expansion is one of many exciting projects up our sleeve for 2021.”

The flavor profile of Lone River Ranch Water is inspired by the original West Texas cocktail made with a blend of tequila, soda water and a squeeze of fresh lime juice. Coinciding with the new markets, Lone River also debuts its 19.2 oz Original Ranch Water (Sugg. Retail, $2.99) and new Variety 12-Pack Ranch Water (Sugg. Retail, $17.99) including its highly anticipated new flavor, Prickly Pear.

Lone River’s portfolio of offerings include:

  • Original: The Original Ranch Water hard seltzer flavored with organic agave nectar and lime juice
  • Spicy: Ranch Water with a kick of the Texas state pepper, jalapeño
  • Rio Red Grapefruit: Ranch Water with a squeeze of Rio Red Grapefruit juice, the Texas state fruit
  • Prickly Pear: Ranch Water with a hint of the sweet Prickly Pear cactus fruit juice found in the high desert of Far West Texas

Lone River creatively combines the popularity of agave-style flavors with the insatiable demand for hard seltzer. In 2020, the size of the US Hard Seltzer industry was $1.8B and was projected to grow 35% in 20212. Lone River has steadily increased its share of the hard seltzer segment throughout 2021, reaching a 3.8% share in Texas, outpacing all other ranch water and agave seltzers in the state3

Founded in 2019 by native Texan Katie Beal Brown and acquired by Diageo in 2021, Lone River Beverage Company and its namesake Ranch Water hard seltzer are rooted in tradition and taste from the high desert of Far West Texas. At 80 calories and 4% ABV per 12 oz.can, Lone River Ranch Water brings an easy-drinking twist to Texas’ classic cocktail. Lone River products are available across the South and Midwest in major retailers as well as independent stores. Lone River is also available via delivery platforms Drizly, GoPuff and Minibar.
