The Board of Directors for the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce formally approved a resolution supporting a local requirement that individuals wear facial coverings to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The mask regulation had been in place since June 19, 2020, when it was implemented via emergency proclamation by Mayor Lane.
On Monday, the Mayor rescinded that proclamation – though a Maricopa County mask regulation remains in effect for the time being.
Board members for the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce, representing a broad range of sectors across our community encourage the City to maintain a mask requirement in Scottsdale.
Removal of a face covering mandate could have a negative repercussion on the health and wellbeing of our community and could potentially offset the progress made in combatting the Covid-19 virus. Looking to best practices for our citizens and economy, we believe a mask mandate supports the tremendous efforts made by our residents, business owners, operators, and health care professionals to continue reduction of the spread of COVID-19.
