The Phoenix City Council referred the General Plan to the ballot for the next regularly scheduled election on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

Last week, the Phoenix City Council unanimously approved the General Plan 2025 Update, a comprehensive plan that will guide the City’s development and growth for the next ten years. This follows recommendations for approval by all 15 Village Planning Committees and the Planning Commission, demonstrating the overwhelming support for the Plan.
“The General Plan 2025 Update is a reflection of our City’s vision for a vibrant and sustainable future. It is the result of extensive research and collaboration with our community members and partners. We are grateful for the City Council’s approval and look forward to implementing this plan for the benefit of all Phoenix residents,” said Planning and Development Department Director, Joshua Bednarek.
Developed by the Phoenix Planning and Development Department in collaboration with community members, stakeholders, and City leaders, the General Plan 2025 Update focuses on creating a unified policy framework for the entire City that aligns with several key priorities, such as improving transportation, increasing affordable housing, and preserving natural resources and open spaces; all while encouraging diversity and a sense of belonging for residents.
