Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC) is excited to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the 23rd Annual Esperanza Latino Teacher Awards presented by Cox Communications and SRP in collaboration with JP Griffin Group.
After a statewide search, four winning teachers will be selected and CPLC will present a $5,000 cash award to each honoree and $2,500 to their respective school. Following there will be a virtual celebration that will start on Monday, April 11, 2022 and extend through a three-week period where their achievements and the capacity of continuously giving hope to future generations will be recognized.
CPLC recognizes the importance of a quality education and believes it is crucial that everyone has the opportunity of obtaining a solid foundation that an education provides. We believe that teachers are at the forefront of providing this lasting impact in and out of the classroom. Since 1988, CPLC has recognized hundreds of outstanding teachers and we especially commend the effort they continue making even with the challenges the pandemic brought these two past years.
Nominees for this year’s awards must meet the following criteria:
- Inspire students of all backgrounds to learn
- Play an active role in their school and community
- Possess a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate
- Teach at a state-approved or accredited school in Arizona

Nominations from across the state must be received before 5 p.m. on March 18, 2022. Forms may be downloaded at cplc.org and submitted (along with a letter of recommendation from the school’s principal) to Cathy.keppel@CPLC.org or:
