StreetLights Residential, a national design-focused developer of luxury multifamily and mixed-use communities, announced that The Ryan has been awarded LEED Silver Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the USGBC’s leading rating system for designing and constructing the world’s greenest, most energy-efficient and high-performing buildings. LEED is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Available for virtually all building types, LEED provides a framework for healthy, efficient, and cost-saving green buildings.
Opened in March 2021, The Ryan is a 332 unit, 17-story high-rise that is part of the mixed-use Block 23 at CityScape. This high profile downtown project also includes 230,000 square feet of creative office space, 14,000 square feet of restaurant and retail spaces, and a multi-level Fry’s Marketplace along with above- and below-grade parking. Developed by StreetLights and MetLife Investment Management, MetLife’s institutional asset management business, residents of The Ryan have direct access to a diverse and dynamic mix of tenants within the development including Fry’s, the first full-service grocery store downtown; Blanco Cocina + Cantina, a Fox Restaurant Concept (FRC); Ingo’s Tasty Food, a LGO Hospitality restaurant; and Chase Bank.
Located in the lively urban environment of downtown Phoenix, The Ryan is an upscale, artistically conceptualized apartment community offering studio, one- and two-bedroom residences complimented by a variety of modern, distinctive amenities. The sophisticated interiors include stone countertops, wood-style flooring, stainless steel appliances, custom cabinetry, and a balcony in every unit. Built-in SONOS® speakers, wine refrigerators and front load washer and dryers are among some of the additional features included within the units, as well as built-in desks and urban mudrooms.
Community amenities include concierge services, a resident bar, co-working space, fitness center featuring Precor® equipment, electric car charging stations, dog run and pet spa, Makers Creative Space, pool deck offering lounge seating, grilling stations and firepits, an expansive activity and yoga lawn, and panoramic views of both downtown Phoenix and the surrounding mountains.

StreetLights Creative Studio led in the urban planning and concept design of The Ryan, working with the design teams of OMNIPLAN, Perkins + Will and Ink & Oro. Whiting Turner was the project’s general contractor. Greystar Residential is the property manager.
Other StreetLights Arizona developments include The Cameron, a luxury four-story community with 349 units in Tempe; The Angela, a five-story residential community in Phoenix comprised of 253 units; and The Tyler, part of the mixed-use Epicenter at Agritopia development in Gilbert, Arizona scheduled to complete this year. Project currently under construction include The Alyssa in Tempe; The Bergen at 44th and Camelback in Phoenix; and The PV Mall redevelopment project.
