Redefine Wellness & Treatment is a boutique, trauma-informed outpatient mental health center in Scottsdale that provides personalized, neuroscience-based care for individuals struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression and co-occurring mental health conditions. Its programs blend clinical therapy, psychiatric services, neurofeedback and holistic wellness modalities within what Petersen, co-founder and national director of business development describes as an “intentionally intimate, high-end environment designed to support deep healing and lasting transformation.” Toward that end, he says, “We are equally committed to cultivating a healthy, purpose-driven workplace culture, grounded in the belief that when clinicians are supported and valued, client care naturally rises.”
Petersen notes the practice was born from lived experience. “Through years of leadership in behavioral healthcare — and our own personal journeys with trauma, healing and growth — we witnessed firsthand how many traditional treatment models focus on symptom management rather than lasting, root-cause recovery. We saw people stabilize but not truly transform,” he says. Having also experienced how unhealthy workplace cultures in healthcare often lead to burnout, high turnover and compromised client care, he notes, “We set out to build something different — a center that blends clinical excellence with genuine compassion, while redefining what it means to care for both clients and the professionals who serve them.”
By integrating neuroscience, trauma-informed therapy, and whole-person care, Redefine supports the nervous system, the brain and the human experience as a whole — not, Peterson emphasizes, just a diagnosis.
Taking to heart the advice to “build something meaningful, not just scalable,” Peterson says, “Rather than growing quickly, we focused on hiring mission-aligned providers, maintaining exceptional clinical standards and developing trusted referral partnerships.” By staying values-driven and patient-first since founding the center in 2024, he says, “We’ve grown steadily while preserving the integrity of care.”
Inspiring Hope, Healing and Renewal
“Our intentionally designed environment reflects our belief that healing happens best in spaces that feel safe, calm, and human — not clinical,” says Daniel Petersen. In that spirit, he explains the deep, personal meaning the dragonfly in Redefine’s logo holds for the center’s founders. “It represents transformation, resilience and the loved ones we have lost — individuals who did not have access to the level of trauma-informed, whole-person care that Redefine now provides,” he says. “The symbol serves as a daily reminder of why the work matters, honoring those lives while inspiring hope, healing and renewal for those seeking care today.”
