Rancho La Loma, located on the northwest corner of Camelback and Litchfield Roads, is brimming with widespread development, including; the renovation of P.W. Litchfield Heritage Center, the opening of the Litchfield Park Branch Library’s new location, which will allow for expanded library programming and enhanced capacity for seating and public use, and the opening of Agua Fria High School District’s Hilltop School for the Arts and Performing Arts Center, a tuition-free public school offering art programs, integrated academics and multiple professional pathways for students.
Sun Health, a community-based nonprofit organization committed to health and wellness, is also investing in Litchfield Park to ensure all three projects open in fall 2026.
In addition to essential utilities, landscape infrastructure and meandering sidewalks, development includes a street light and crosswalk at Litchfield Road and Denny Way to address resident traffic concerns and improve community well-being
Among the planned infrastructure is a roundabout at the intersection of Litchfield Road and Brinton Avenue, funded by the City of Litchfield Park.
Sun Health Chief Engagement Officer Nora Hannah shared, “Thoughtful planning is at the heart of this exciting development. We are proud to be part of Litchfield Park’s growth and continued excellence.”
The new infrastructure is expected to enhance traffic flow, mitigate safety concerns and support city growth.
Rancho La Loma’s more-than-300-acre plot was entrusted to Sun Health in 1999 by Edith Litchfield Denny and Wally Denny, daughter and son-in-law of Litchfield Park founder Paul Litchfield, for the purpose of promoting health and wellness throughout the West Valley.
This vision of Rancho La Loma is driving Sun Health’s dedication to supporting local infrastructure.
“Arts and culture can have a profound impact on health and wellness. We are delighted to play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful opening of these community assets and look forward to developing collaborative programs to enhance the Southwest Valley,” said Hannah.
Sun Health is also in the process of developing a 22-acre wellness district in Rancho La Loma, a dynamic community hub that is expected to feature medical services, fitness studios, and dining. Development of this district is ongoing as Sun Health focuses on the area’s necessary infrastructure and future development partners.
