SkySong, The ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center, has seen another wave of new leasing activity in the past few weeks, totaling more than 18,000 square feet.

This new wave of activity comes on the heel of the announcement of transactions totaling nearly 40,000 square feet of new leases and expansions, and the signing of a large lease by the Arizona Builders Alliance in late summer.

Recent activity at SkySong included multiple leases: In SkySong 4, BHE Renewables signed a new lease for a nearly 4,000-square-foot space; CompuNet signed a lease for a 3,800-square-foot space; and Advanced Network Management signed a lease renewal for a 5,919-square-foot space. Also in SkySong 4, Anthem Strategists signed a new lease for a 2,355-square-foot space. In SkySong 1, Neolight renewed its lease for a 1,946-square-foot space.

Sharon Harper, Chairman and CEO of Plaza Companies, the master developer of the project, said this wave leasing activity is yet another sign of SkySong’s resilience despite market challenges.

“SkySong has consistently weathered economic adversity and continues to be one of the most attractive properties in the marketplace,” Harper said. “The property continues to attract the kind of innovative companies and organizations that thrive in an environment focused on entrepreneurship.”

Plaza Companies is the master developer of SkySong, in partnership with University Realty, the City of Scottsdale and Holualoa Companies.

Plaza Companies provides development, financing, construction oversight, leasing renewals and expansions and property management at SkySong. The Coppola Cheney Group of Lee & Associates is SkySong’s leasing broker.

SkySong is a 42-acre mixed-use development designed to create an ecology of collaboration and innovation among high-profile technology enterprises and related researchers; advance the global business objectives of on-site enterprises; raise Arizona’s profile as a global center of innovation through the co-location of Arizona State University’s strategic global partners; and create a unique regional economic and social asset.

Companies located at SkySong have the opportunity to partner with ASU, which has about 194,000 students studying across four metropolitan Phoenix campuses Los Angeles and Washington D.C. and online. ASU is one of the largest public universities in the nation, with the majority of its students attending its campus in Tempe, Arizona, less than three miles from SkySong.

In addition to locating its own innovative research units at the center, through ASU’s on-site operations, tenant companies have a single point of contact for introductions to researchers, faculty and programs to address their specific needs.
