Chemical Logistics Firm Anchors Arizona’s Growing Supply Chain

In Casa Grande, a new kind of infrastructure is taking shape, less visible than fabs and battery plants but just as vital to Arizona’s high-tech economy.

NRS Logios America, a global leader in chemical logistics, officially opened its first U.S. logistics facility in late May: a $90-million chemical logistics park designed to meet the rising demand for safe and reliable transport and storage of critical materials used in semiconductor and battery manufacturing.

Founded in 1946 in Japan, NRS has evolved from a supplier of chemical equipment into a global logistics company specializing in high-purity and electric-grade chemicals, pharmaceutical substances and general cargo. The Casa Grande facility joins existing U.S. offices in Phoenix; Houston; and White Plains, N.Y., but is its first physical logistics hub on American soil.

The 40-acre complex is more than just a regional outpost. It’s a linchpin in the evolving supply chain that supports some of the world’s most sophisticated industrial processes.

“With this facility, we are dedicated to solving the complex needs of the semiconductor industry,” says Yuichi Sato, president of NRS Logios America. “Arizona has drawn attention as a center of innovation, and in Casa Grande and the state, we found the best partners to construct a safe, reliable chemical logistics facility that can help power the future and the world.”

That future is already taking shape. The Casa Grande site comprises a 67,680-square-foot chemical warehouse, a 9,467-square-foot gas pad, and specialized tank and container storage capabilities, all of which are compliant with strict hazard classifications for flammable, corrosive and other high-purity chemicals used in chip manufacturing and battery production.

The facility brings critical logistics capabilities closer to major customers like TSMC, Intel and LG Energy Solution. It also positions Arizona to be more self-sufficient as it continues to attract manufacturing megaprojects that depend on the rapid and regulated delivery of specialty chemicals.

“NRS’s expansive new facility, their first in the U.S., reflects Arizona’s rapid industrial growth,” says Sandra Watson, president and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority. “A global chemical logistics leader, NRS will play a critical role in strengthening Arizona’s semiconductor and battery industry supply chains.”

While Phoenix and Pinal County have captured headlines for billion-dollar fabs and electric vehicle campuses, the infrastructure that enables those technologies, from chemical storage to rail access, is often overlooked. NRS’s investment helps round out that picture.

Chris Camacho, president and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, emphasizes the facility’s strategic value: “As Greater Phoenix’s semiconductor and battery supply chains expand and evolve, NRS creates a competitive advantage by providing essential, specialized services and supply chain proximity.”

At full buildout, NRS expects to employ up to 100 people at the site, which is already planning expansions that include additional rail infrastructure and temperature-controlled storage. The company currently operates out of 40 global locations and employs around 1,100 people worldwide.

Casa Grande Mayor Lisa Fitzgibbons calls the opening a major milestone for the city: “As a leader in their field, NRS will play a vital role in supporting the booming semiconductor industry. We are excited to have them join us in building a stronger local economy.”

The arrival of NRS in Casa Grande follows a wave of investment in the region, which has drawn companies like Li-Cycle, Chang Chun and battery recycler Ecobat. For Arizona’s industrial base to thrive, companies like NRS are needed to handle the most delicate and often hazardous aspects of production behind the scenes.

With semiconductor and battery manufacturing both poised for long-term growth, the timing couldn’t be better.

As Sato put it at the recent ribbon cutting: “We are thrilled to share this moment — a reminder of what’s possible when vision meets dedication.”
