Delta Dental of Arizona announced its president and chief executive officer Michael Jones has been appointed to a two-year term on the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Los Angeles Branch Board of Directors.
As part of the U.S. central bank, the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco covers the Twelfth District’s nine western states—Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawai’i, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington—plus American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Its mission is to support monetary policy, strengthen financial institutions, and enhance the payments systems. In his role, Jones and his fellow directors will oversee the management of the Reserve Banks and Branches, participate in the formulation of national monetary and credit policies and act as a link between the government and the private sector.
“At Delta Dental of Arizona, which is Arizona’s largest dental insurer, we are focused on creating a path to better health and wellness so that Arizonans can thrive,” said Jones. “This esteemed position on the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Los Angeles Branch Board of Directors is in perfect alignment with our mission as it will allow me to listen to and learn from the communities we serve so we can make better decisions and policy to help our nation thrive.”
Headquartered in San Francisco, the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco has branch offices in Los Angeles, Seattle, Salt Lake City, and Portland, as well as a cash processing center in Phoenix. It oversees a network that includes more than 400 banks and bank holding companies.
Jones, who has led Delta Dental of Arizona since 2021, takes on the position in addition to serving as president and chairman of the charitable Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation, which provides much needed oral health and nutrition funding, education and supplies to those in need statewide. To date, Delta Dental of Arizona, through its Foundation, has given more than $18 million toward these efforts. He is also an elected member of Greater Phoenix Leadership (GPL), the state’s premier CEO business roundtable. Jones earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Iowa State University and a master’s in business administration degree from the University of Texas, where he was a Consortium Fellowship Recipient.
