Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce the arrival of Megan Irwin, who joins the firm’s Phoenix office as a partner in its Technology, Manufacturing & Transportation industry group.
Irwin is a veteran environmental lawyer with two decades of experience representing clients in connection with complex compliance and permitting issues under federal and state environmental regulatory programs, environmental remediation efforts, corporate transactions, and state and federal litigation. She advises clients on virtually all facets of corporate operations that touch upon environmental law, including the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), and the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act (MSHA). Prior to entering private practice, she served as a civil engineer with a national engineering firm and as a consultant with two international environmental consulting firms.
“Environmental law issues are front and center for so many of our clients, especially given the recent rise in regulatory attention and the capital markets implications of ESG,” said Jeff Sigmund, the head of Husch Blackwell’s Technology, Manufacturing & Transportation industry group. “It is vital for our firm to maintain a deep and talented group of environmental lawyers who can work seamlessly with transactional and litigation teams across the firm. I believe our clients will find Megan to be an invaluable resource.”
“I’m pleased to find a home with Husch Blackwell,” said Irwin. “The firm already has in place a highly regarded environmental law group, and its industry-based structure is something many of my clients will find attractive. It’s important to look at client challenges in both the legal and business contexts. The team at Husch Blackwell understands the industries they serve, and to me, that’s a real differentiator.”
Irwin is a graduate of the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law and also holds a degree in civil engineering from the University of Washington. Formerly, Irwin was a partner in the Phoenix office of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner.
