The 225,000-square-foot facility at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport marks the company’s expansion into Arizona, representing an investment of more than $70 million. The Mesa facility will include hangar space, back shops and employee and customer offices.

Based in Savannah, Georgia with locations around the world, Gulfstream has been a business aviation leader for more than 60 years and its in-service fleet numbers nearly 3,000 aircraft around the world.

Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is known as an airport for business aviation operators, with over 30 companies on site. Gulfstream chose to build its facility at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport because its infrastructure and size provide an ideal location for Gulfstream and its customers.
“The arrival of Gulfstream is further proof that Gateway Airport is one of the best locations in North America for MRO and other aerospace facilities,” said Mesa Mayor John Giles, who also serves as Chairman of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority (PMGAA). “The hundreds of high-wage jobs and educational partnerships that will be generated with this facility will have a profound impact on the entire region.”

Prioritizing sustainability, the facility will feature a fuel farm with a dedicated sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supply; low-flow plumbing fixtures; LED lighting; building management systems; and an energy-efficient HVAC system. Designers are also incorporating occupancy sensor-controlled lights, a white roof to reflect heat, native plants and low-water-demand landscaping. Gulfstream is also working with the airport authority to explore using green power from the electrical utility and installing solar panels on-site.
In addition, Gulfstream will work with local educational institutions including Arizona State University and Chandler-Gilbert Community College to develop the skilled workforce needed for these new positions.

Gulfstream’s expansion comes after an abundance of economic development activity in Mesa. In May 2021, ElectraMeccanica, a Canadian electric vehicle manufacturer, broke ground on its assembly facility in Mesa, located near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. In August 2021, Facebook announced plans to build a sustainable data center in Mesa, representing a projected $800 million investment.
