As Vice President of Business Development, Ellenby is responsible for planning and executing company sales and marketing plans, implementing new ideas, securing contracts with new customers, as well as managing ongoing contracts.
Over the course of his career, Ellenby accumulated leadership experience in sales, management, and executive roles. Prior to joining YellowBird, he held executive roles at companies such as Coplex, IBM, GE, and Cisco and served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at three different tech startups.

His business expertise becomes evident in his 2015 TEDx “What Works in the Mountains Also Works in Your Business,” in which he amalgamates his passion for the outdoors with his successful business approach. Ellenby has completed multiple Grand Canyon hikes, climbed Kilimanjaro twice, made it to Everest Base Camp, attempted Aconcagua, and others. He is currently getting ready to climb Mount Elbrus, in Russia.
Passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation, Ellenby has dedicated most of his career to support and accelerate innovation in a sales capacity. He has started and successfully exited several companies over the years. In addition, he currently serves as a mentor at Arizona State University’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation program and is an advisor to ASU’s Master of Science in Innovation and Venture Development program.
Ellenby earned his MBA in International Management from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) while living in Singapore. He is a certified Six Sigma executive and was awarded Mentor of the Year by SEED Spot in 2017. Outside of work, Ellenby is actively involved in the community. He is a member of the Board of Directors of three Phoenix-based non-profit organizations: Adelante Health, SEED SPOT, and Hunkapi. He is the proud father of an ASU grad and a dog dad.
