In its seventh year of the annual Fast Pitch competition, Social Venture Partners Arizona (SVPAZ) is adding an inaugural for-profit category. Innovative entrepreneurs with social missions are invited to apply now through Nov. 6 to participate in a two-month social impact program that culminates in a live event where they can compete for funding alongside their nonprofit counterparts.
“We’re seeing trends in the marketplace where more for-profit organizations with social missions are helping solve our social problems,” said SVPAZ Executive Director Terri Wogan Calderón. “We want to expand the Fast Pitch program and competition to recognize those companies leading the revolution in the Valley.”
During the two months leading up to the live competition, three for-profit semifinalists are mentored by local business leaders on honing their pitch, sharpening their social impact, and communicating with power and purpose. Three students from Arizona State University and 20 nonprofit leaders will also take part in the mentoring program.
Seven nonprofits, one student and one for-profit will advance to the final stage of the competition, using their training to contend for SVPAZ cash awards, as well as thousands of dollars raised during the event by attendees.
