Roosevelt Row officially has a new gathering place: Formation Brewing, now open at 925 N. Fifth Street. The locally rooted brewery invites guests to experience craft beer, inventive food and community in one of Phoenix’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
Formation will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 8, with live music, giveaways, food and drink specials, and more.
The 10,000-square-foot space is designed to bring people together, with a central sunken seating area, a 19-tank brewhouse offering views of the brewing process, a 110-seat dining room and an upstairs bar and lounge for private events. The outdoor patio is heated and cooled for year-round use and features fire pits and big-screen TVs for watch parties.
“Formation Brewing is more than a place to grab a pint – it’s a place to connect,” said Eric Foster, CEO. “We’ve poured intention into every detail, and we’re proud to share this space with the Roosevelt Row community.”
At the helm of the brewery program is Head Brewer Sam Townsend, a two-time Great American Beer Festival gold medalist and former brewer at Funkwerks in Fort Collins, Colorado. His launch lineup of Arizona-inspired beers reflects both the spirit of the Southwest and his nationally recognized expertise.
The kitchen offers a creative, locally inspired menu with a variety of shareables, salads, bowls, sandwiches, burgers, and Detroit-style pizzas. Signature shareables include smoked elote dip, crispy desert tanglers, smoked chicken wings, and smoked pork nachos, while salads and bowls feature options such as a smoked jalapeño Caesar, a chopped salad with grilled chicken, a quinoa power bowl, and a chorizo and smoked corn bowl.
Formation Brewing is designed as more than a taproom – it is a community gathering place. The brewery plans to host regular events, collaborations with local artists and makers, and private tastings to foster connection and celebrate Arizona’s craft beer culture.
