State officials and major employers in Arizona met today at Honeywell’s Advanced Air Mobility Lab in Phoenix, for a private roundtable discussion about maximizing clean energy investment in the state.
The roundtable event — Powering Arizona: Maximizing Historic Federal Investment for a Clean Economy — connected officials from the Governor’s Office of Resiliency with representatives from Honeywell Aerospace, Microsoft, Lucid Motors, KORE Power, and other major employers in the state. It provided an opportunity for public and private sector leaders to discuss their plans to leverage federal clean energy legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 and the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 to benefit Arizona’s economy and the climate.
“The Governor’s Office of Resiliency is proud to partner with private industry and community groups to build a more resilient Arizona for future generations to thrive. Arizona is already seeing significant momentum in private sector clean energy investments focused on lowering energy costs for Arizona families and businesses,” said Maren Mahoney, director of the Arizona Governor’s Office of Resiliency. “Since the passage of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act in 2021 and the Inflation Reduction Act in August 2022, we have secured close to $4 billion dollars for clean energy and related infrastructure in Arizona and regionally. Meanwhile, new clean energy projects in our state have already brought in $10 billion in private investment and thousands of good-paying clean energy jobs. This means less pollution, fewer health problems, and more quality, local jobs suited to meet the demands of our future. We look forward to continuing this critical collaboration with our private sector partners.”

Arizona has emerged as one of the nation’s top destinations for clean energy investment. Since the Inflation Reduction Act passed into law in the summer of 2022, the state has already secured more than $10 billion in new clean energy investments, which are projected to create more than 13,500 new jobs. Today’s roundtable event served both to celebrate this success while exploring opportunities for further policy and business action to invite even greater investment in Arizona’s clean energy economy.
Notable Arizona projects include KORE Power’s KOREPlex battery facility in Buckeye, in partnership with Siemens; the $5.6 billion LG Energy Solutions gigafactory in Queen Creek; and American Battery’s gigafactory in Tucson, which is expected to employ 1,000.
