Meta, the parent company of Facebook, celebrated the grand opening of its state-of-the-art data center in Mesa, Arizona. This milestone marks a significant investment in the region, with the facility spanning over 2.5 million square feet across five buildings.

The project, first announced in August 2021, represents an investment exceeding $1 billion. The Mesa Data Center is designed to be among the most advanced and energy-efficient facilities globally. It is supported by 100% renewable energy, aligning with Meta’s commitment to sustainability.

The company has collaborated with local partners to introduce 450 megawatts of new solar energy to Arizona, ensuring the data center’s operations are both powerful and environmentally friendly. In addition to its technological advancements, the data center is expected to have a positive economic impact on the local community. At the peak of construction, the project employed between 1,500 to 2,000 skilled workers daily.

Now operational, it provides over 200 permanent jobs in the area. Meta’s commitment to Mesa extends beyond the data center. The company has announced a $50,000 grant to support the Mesa College Promise program, assisting local high school graduates in attending Mesa Community College. This initiative underscores Meta’s dedication to investing in the long-term vitality of the communities in which it operates.

The opening of the Mesa Data Center signifies Meta’s ongoing efforts to expand its infrastructure while fostering community development and environmental stewardship.
