The process of hiring replacement drivers has been made significantly easier and more efficient through an on-demand app created by F|Staff, a Phoenix-based CDL operator staffing company.
This app, which is now available on both the App Store and Google Play, is a resource for both carriers who are looking for replacement drivers, as well as drivers who are looking for work. The two-pronged approach is taking what was once a complicated and cumbersome process on both ends and streamlining it so that each party can achieve their goal within minutes.
“It allows for a lot of flexibility on both ends,” says Ronnie Wood, senior vice president of client relations at F|Staff. “The carriers can adjust the size of their team based on the fluctuating demand of the seasons, while the drivers can work whatever shifts they want.”
Other advantages on the carrier side include the elimination of the numerous phone calls to staffing agencies and the nearly total reduction of paperwork. The app also gives carriers the option of selecting new or repeat drivers that can be available for work often as quickly as the same day, depending on the location of the job. This turnaround is critical for these businesses who are hoping to replace a driver that has called in sick.
F|Staff guarantees that carriers are receiving drivers who are dependable and ready to work. All of their operators are DOT Certified, MVR approved, drug tested, background checked, physically healthy, and harbor at least 12 months of experience. The F|Staff roster is available nationwide and trained to haul diverse shipments, including toxic or flammable chemicals and wide loads.
The app also creates additional conveniences for drivers beyond accepting shifts tailored to their own schedule. They can view all the available jobs and choose the most convenient one for them, as opposed to being assigned to one by a temp agency. There are also educational and training opportunities available through the app.
While the nation is starting to see a return to some semblance of normality when it comes to the supply chain, there are still challenges that linger. The trucking industry, specifically, continues to struggle in terms of labor.
“The biggest misconception out there is that, nationally, the trucking industry is experiencing a shortage of drivers, which is not true,” says Justin Clarke, CEO of F|Staff. “The drivers are out there, so it’s more of an efficiency problem – a complete misuse of the labor pool. Our app is the solution that directly addresses this issue.”
