Banner Names Veteran Executive to Lead Casa Grande Medical Center

Meiko Onken, FACHE, who has spent more than 30 years in health care, including two decades in leadership, will bring her expertise to a growing central Arizona community being named chief executive officer of Banner Casa Grande Medical Center.

“With three decades of experience in health care, Meiko has developed a deep expertise in operational management, clinical integration, and organizational transformation,” said John Groesbeck, senior vice president of acute care delivery for Banner Health in Arizona. “She has successfully led initiatives to improve patient outcomes, enhance efficiency, and strengthen collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.”

Onken joined Banner in 2002 in a clinical role, earning progressive leadership positions across the organization. She spent the last five years as chief operating officer of Banner – University Medicine Tucson, overseeing operations, strategic initiatives and performance of both campuses.

“This unique blend of clinical and administrative training provides her with a comprehensive perspective that bridges frontline care delivery with executive decision-making,” Groesbeck said. “She has worked closely with clinical and administrative leaders to advance Banner’s mission of delivering safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care that she will bring to the Casa Grande community.”

Meiko began her career in clinical care after earning an associate of science degree in radiologic technology from Pima Medical Institute. She received a bachelor of science in business administration, followed by a master of management degree with a health care focus from the University of Phoenix.
