Arizona Diamondbacks Host Annual Juneteenth Celebration on Friday, June 16

In partnership with The Players Alliance, the D-backs will welcome 150 Black Pro baseball players, promoting diversity in baseball and creating opportunities for Black talent. As part of their “Equip the Future” tour, former D-backs Outfielder Scott Hairston, Pitcher Steve Randolph and Infielder Junior Spivey will hold a workshop prior to the game for 34 baseball players from Youngker High School and South Mountain High School. Each player will receive a personalized baseball backpack with gloves and other essential gear to support their love of the game.

The Buffalo Soldiers, an African American Army unit formed after the Civil War at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, will present the colors; Ava Williams with Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church will perform the National Anthem and the Black National Anthem “Lift Every Voice;” and James Mayfield, the Head Coach of Youngker High School Baseball from 2018-2023, will throw out the Ceremonial First Pitch.
