Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that the Snell & Wilmer Charitable Foundation has contributed to two Phoenix organizations in 2022. The firm granted funds to Valley of the Sun United Way for early childhood educational initiatives. Additionally, the firm granted funds to UPWARD for Children and Families, a partner agency of Valley of the Sun United Way. These grants are the final part of three-year grants.

“Giving back to the communities in which we live and work has been an important part of Snell & Wilmer’s culture since the firm’s founding. We are proud to support the Valley of the Sun United Way and UPWARD for Children and Families and their efforts to help children reach their potential,” said Matthew P. Feeney, firm chair.

Since 1925, Valley of the Sun United Way has mobilized the caring power of individuals and organizations to improve lives and is the largest nonprofit investor of health and human service programs in Maricopa County. It brings partners together from every sector – public, private, nonprofit – to do what no single organization can do alone: create solutions that transform the lives of individuals and families and drive systemic change that impacts entire communities.

UPWARD for Children and Families is a nonprofit dedicated to the education, therapy, and loving care for local children with disabilities. It is many school districts’ primary provider of special education, therapy and childcare for children with severe disabilities.

“Snell & Wilmer’s commitment to philanthropy through multi-year grants is a model for other businesses that are looking to give back to the communities they serve. We are proud to partner with the firm and facilitate their support of nonprofit organizations in Arizona and beyond,” said Morgan Bishop Fraser, Executive Director of the Pakis Center for Business Philanthropy at the Arizona Community Foundation.

Philanthropy is an important element of Snell & Wilmer’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility. To this end, we established the Snell & Wilmer Charitable Foundation in 2002 with the goal to have a positive and direct impact on the lives of children in the communities we serve by supporting and enhancing their early education. We achieve this objective through three-year monetary grants, administered through the Arizona Community Foundation, to carefully selected nonprofit organizations in the communities where the firm has an established office. Our current grant cycle runs from 2022 – 2024 and includes 15 organizations. Since its inception, the Snell & Wilmer Foundation has donated more than $5 million to selected organizations.

Founded in 1938, Snell & Wilmer is a full-service business law firm with more than 450 attorneys practicing in 16 locations throughout the United States and in Mexico, including Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona; Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego, California; Denver, Colorado; Washington, D.C.; Boise, Idaho; Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Portland, Oregon; Dallas, Texas; Salt Lake City, Utah; Seattle, Washington; and Los Cabos, Mexico.
