Shapiro Law Team announced a major endowment to the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. The company’s major gift will go to the Moot Court Endowment, expanding opportunities for students to participate in court simulations. Shapiro Law Team’s gift will cover participant’s registration fees, travel expenses, and other vital resources.
Moot Court is an opportunity for law students to take the oral and written advocacy skills they have learned and put them into action. These simulated advocacy environments feature judges and jurors who are often practitioners or sitting judges. This exceptional opportunity gives ASU students a competitive edge as future litigators and trial lawyers.
“This generous investment in ASU Law students by the Shapiro Law Team significantly expands experiential learning opportunities,” said Stacy Leeds, Willard H. Pedrick Dean, Regents and Foundation Professor of Law at ASU Law. “Moot Court competitions allow our students to sharpen their advocacy skills and engage in spirited competition with peers from across the globe. This critical support ensures that more students can participate without financial barriers. These experiences help us graduate future-ready attorneys ready to make important contributions to the legal profession and society as a whole.”
Shapiro Law Team’s contribution will reduce the financial barriers many students face. Without this funding, the school would only be able to send one team to a competition yearly. However, thanks to donors like Shapiro Law Team, most students can sign up for one experience a semester.
“Supporting the next generation of attorneys fighting for Valley residents’ justice is something that I am not only passionate about but know will make a long-term difference in our community,” said David Shapiro, Founder and Attorney at Shapiro Law Team. “We believe that every student should have the opportunity to strengthen their courtroom advocacy skills, regardless of cost. We are happy to support a program that helps build ethical, tough and resilient lawyers.”
Shapiro Law Team’s investment reaffirms their dedication to legal education and their commitment to supporting trial advocacy.
